Meals Fuel Families and Substance Prevention

Students and staff at John I. Leonard High School collaborate with the “Living Skills in Schools” team to provide 500 meals for school families to encourage meals at home and discussion of ways to prevent substance use and abuse. Living Skills in the Schools is a substance abuse prevention program serving schools throughout Palm Beach County with free programming since 1999.

The organization strives to assist families by reducing and preventing substance abuse by teaching kids the skills and perspective they need to resist substance abuse and addiction.

Regular family dinners with teens have been shown to help reduce substance abuse risk. Whether you already gather for daily family meals or not, the organization hopes that the kits provided will help families have what for many is a challenging conversation.
