Established 1965. John Ireson Leonard was born in Joliet, Illinois, in 1886. He was an osteopathic doctor until a World War I hand injury steered him to education. He moved to Palm Beach County in 1925 and was elected superintendent in 1936, where he led Palm Beach County Schools for 12 years.
